The calculation of rates according to which employees are getting paid on Sundays, is done as prescribed in the Act:

 

1.     Workers who do not usually work on a Sunday, must get double the normal hourly wage. In the agricultural sector employees must always be paid double for work on Sunday.

 

2.     Workers who usually work on a Sunday must get 1.5 times the normal hourly wage (please note there is a hidden function on the time programmes to activate this). 

 

IMPORTANT:  Employees may only get paid 1.5 x normal tariff if the Sunday forms part of their normal work week; in other words, the total hours per week comes to a maximum of 45 hours. Where the 45 hours per week is exceeded, double tariff will be applicable to the Sunday hours.
